President/Chief Meteorologist, Hutch's Weather

I have loved learning about weather since I was 10 and saw my first funnel cloud. I have worked as a Chief Meteorologist for nearly 30 years for NBC, CBS and ABC affiliates here in the northern plains. I have also spent over 15 years as a college meteorology professor and worked in research meteorology as well. Now, I have my own platforms and stream vital weather information to the same areas I have served for decades.

I am committed to keeping viewers informed with severe weather coverage they can count on, daily weather updates focused on impacts, graphic design, broadcast and streaming tech (lights and cameras), and developing interactive presentations for loyal viewers.

Every day is a new opportunity to learn more about the weather, my viewers, and continue to evolve as a communicator to better serve them.

Favorite Compliment

It is humbling to hear viewers tell you that you may have helped save their lives. It hits home to know that your coverage of a weather event allowed families to take action. On a lighter note, it is equally as humbling to hear that a student that was a Hutch’s Weather Kid is now a broadcast meteorologist!
